Inspired
by classic short stories like O. Henry’s “Gift of the Magi” and
Shirley Jackson’s “The Lottery,” I wanted to come up with my
own contemporary parable about love and sacrifice, one that would
resonate for LGBT readership. As a result, I wrote “Saving Face.” You can get it now from JMS Books website. The following paragraph is a brief description of this winter solstice story.
Jasper
and Owen have been partnered for seven years, with an unwavering
dedication to one another; however, their life together has been
anything but ideal. Though Jasper, heir to a fortune, has sufficient
assets to support them both, he is physically deformed. Owen is
financially dependent on him but also protective of his beloved
Jasper in every possible way. As they attempt to conduct their lives
in a dignified manner, fate intervenes in the guise of an occult
shop. There, Owen purchases an enchanted Solstice gift for Jasper,
completely unaware that it will change their lives forever.
